  • Three strong women with Down syndrome exhibiting advocacy.

    Improv to Advocacy!

Our Improv to Advocacy! program uses improvisation to build key skills associated with advocacy - all in a fun, game-centered, engaging and structured environment. The programs are designed to build advocacy in individuals with developmental disabilities from the living room to Capitol Hill.

    This program has four components:

    Introduction to Improvisation

    Self-Awareness

    Decision Making

    Becoming The Advocate

Programs can be structured and flexed to each organizations needs and timeframes from a 3 hour workshop to a 16 week course, and all points in between. We also provide evaluation and measurement of each individual to identify growth during the program. Participants are given an advocacy toolkit to use throughout and after the program to continue to hone their skills.

Self-Advocacy has been identified as one of the biggest challenges and areas for growth among individuals with developmental disabilities. Let’s use improvisation to make this the next huge opportunity for inclusion in society.

  • Young man with Down syndrome in a suit stands next to an interviewer smiling.

    Improv. Interview. Impress.

Interviewing is so fun, isn’t it? We all love it, don’t we? OK, maybe not. Imagine how much more challenging it can be for those with developmental disabilities. Let us work with your organization or job-seekers to help them hone and improve their interview skills and abilities.

This program will use fun and engaging improvisation games specific to the skills needed for those nerve-wracking interviews to create a fearless, ready, and impressive candidate for any interview situation. We can also use this program to flip the script and build skills that will teach participants how to interview others.

Key skills built in this program are:

    Eye Contact and Voice Projection

    Self-Confidence

    Answering and Questioning Techniques

    Story-Telling

    Being Brief but Concise

    Problem Solving and Preparation

Ask how improvisation can be used to build these skills and create the best interview situation possible.

    Let's Build It...

The beauty of improvisation is that it can continue to grow and develop in so many ways. It can be a weekly introduction class, a special advocacy program, a performance-driven troupe, or anything we can think of together.

When we created The Improvaneer Method, it began as a once a month workshop just for individuals with Down syndrome. Today it is for all developmental disabilities, it is online, there is a youth and adult program, we do performances, and so much more. The point is, it started with one idea, and has now grown to so many more. And the beauty is, we haven’t even come close to thinking of all the other ways this program can be used to help many more participants.

Bring us your thoughts, programs, and ideas, and let’s see if we can help build an Improvaneer program specific to your needs.

Right now, the sky is the limit in how this form of teaching, building and playing can lead to advancing skills in individuals with developmental disabilities that most people never thought possible.

    Let’s build it together!

Improv Parties - Online and Live

How bout an Improv Party? Are you tired of the traditional party themes? Improv Parties are definitely a more exciting and fun (and funny!) way to add some spice to any occasion.

We can do these events live or online when it’s hard to get everyone together in person or you and your friends are just bored on a Saturday night.

One of our Certified Directors can offer a fun agenda that all participants can be a part of from any location. We’ll even help sing along to celebrate the event.

Parties can last from 30 up to 90 minutes. We will also work with the host to create a list of games that are not only fun and easy for all to play, but also focus on the guest of honor or theme if desired.

Contact us for more information and to discuss dates and ideas.

    Let’s get this party started!

    Speak UP!

Public speaking is challenging as we all know. Overcoming that fear of speaking or fear of forgetting your speech is huge. But, being able to present in front of groups or speak publicly is a big part of many careers and social activity.

Rob Snow has taught a program called Speak Up! for several years. This program focuses on…

    Becoming The Speaker

    Managing The Speaker

    Promoting The Speaker

Rob provides a thorough workshop or his team can provide private sessions on helping individuals with upcoming speeches, a big presentation, or even trying to become a public speaker as a career.

Nick Doyle has been trained by Rob and now also teaches this course to individuals with developmental disabilities. Nick is a gifted public speaker as well and his ability to share empathy as an individual with a developmental disability with those he teaches the program to is a key to his success.

This program or individual sessions can be scheduled for 30-60 minute blocks or can be offered in a workshop which The Improvaneer Method will be putting on throughout the year. Please shoot us an email to inquire about the program.
