A Day In Wooster, OH

A TWO SHOW DAY!

On February 5th, The Improvaneers! had the incredible honor of performing not once—but twice—for the Wooster High School community, thanks to the amazing efforts of their local Best Buddies chapter.

It’s a day we definitely won’t forget!

During the School Day

Our first performance took place during the school day, welcoming students of all abilities, including guests from local disability organizations and students from both the middle and high school. The hour-long show featured Improvaneers Henry, Sarah, Nick, and Audrey, led by CEO Rob Snow and COO Liz Kutinsky.

Thank you Wayne County Board of Developmental Disabilities for providing us with lunch!

The audience didn’t just watch—they became part of the show. Students eagerly shouted out suggestions, inspired scenes, and even joined us on stage, creating unforgettable moments of connection, creativity, and laughter.

After the performance, we had the privilege of visiting classrooms, connecting more personally with students and faculty. We were deeply touched by handmade thank-you cards and the chance to hang out—playing games like UNO and learning more about our audience members.

An Evening for the Entire Community

Later that evening, we returned for a second performance—this time open to the entire Wooster community.

This show featured six Improvaneers: Nick, Audrey, Sarah, Henry, Emily, and Theresa, led by Rob Snow and Director Joe Quinn.

The energy in the room was electric. For many in attendance, this was their first time experiencing The Improvaneers—but for others, especially those connected to Best Buddies, we were a familiar (and welcomed!) group. Having previously performed at the Best Buddies Leadership Conference in Indianapolis in July 2025, it was really exciting to reconnect with that community!

Following the show, we spent time meeting audience members, taking photos, and hearing firsthand how much the performance meant to them.

A Powerful Partnership

We were grateful to connect with Brent Dillon, an Intervention Specialist at Wooster High School, who played a key role in bringing this experience to life.

After seeing The Improvaneers perform at the Best Buddies Leadership Conference, Brent knew this was something the Wooster community needed.

“Their mission aligns so closely with the culture Best Buddies strives to create at WHS: a true sense of belonging and inclusion.”

His goal was not only to provide entertainment, but to create a meaningful experience—one where students, staff, and community members could see individuals with Down Syndrome confidently sharing their gifts on stage.

And that goal was more than achieved.

The Impact

Leading up to the first show, excitement was building—and it delivered.

“Students were engaged, energetic, and genuinely invested… I paused to look around the auditorium, and it was a powerful moment to see smiles and hear laughter filling the room.”

The evening performance extended that impact even further, opening the doors for the broader community to experience the joy and mission behind The Improvaneers.

“It meant a lot to be able to extend that experience beyond the school walls and even share it with my own family.”

Perhaps most importantly, the day highlighted what programs like The Improvaneers and The Improvaneer Method can offer:

  • Increased confidence

  • Stronger communication skills

  • A deep sense of belonging

  • And a reimagining of what’s possible

“I truly believe this experience inspired our students to see what’s possible and to reach their full potential.”

More Than a Performance

While the shows themselves were unforgettable, Brent shared something that resonated deeply with us:

“The highlight of my day was the time I was able to spend with the entire Improvaneers team off stage… getting to know them beyond the performance made the experience even more meaningful.”

That’s what this work is all about—connection, community, and breaking down barriers together.

Let’s Connect!

We are so thankful to everyone who made this day possible—from the Best Buddies chapter to the students, staff, and community members who welcomed us so warmly.

If you are part of a Best Buddies chapter, a local school district or an organization looking to increase inclusive experiences, consider bringing in this inclusive, high-impact experience to your community!

We’re always excited to bring this hilarious, groundbreaking, and meaningful experience to new audiences.

NO FEAR, IMPROVANEERS!
